Restorative AcroYoga & Thai Massage
Saturday, March 19th
10:30 am - 1:30 pm
Beehive Buds Wellness Center
Experience a chance to reconnect with community and lift each other up. Blend mindful movement with partner acrobatics and traditional Thai Massage. Through the foundational elements of restorative AcroYoga and Thai Massage, connect with your body and feel supported along the way.
Restorative AcroYoga is a type of mindful partner acrobatics that is close to the ground, slow moving, and incorporates stretching, supported inversions, traction and decompression. It brings together restorative yoga and traditional Thai massage. We use spotting and soft mats, emphasizing safety and comfort.
Thai Massage is a traditional and intentional practice coordinated with breath and grounded in the principle of Metta (loving kindness). It consists of of assisted stretching and gentle compression. Thai massage is a distinct form of traditional medicine that has similarities with Ayurveda, Chinese Medicine, and Buddhism.
This workshop is appropriate for beginners and all levels. Please feel free to reach out with any questions. We would love to hear from you!
Ben Smith is a licensed massage therapist and a certified RYT-200hr yoga instructor. Ben has taught many foundational Thai Massage courses and is an NCBTMB Approved Provider of Integrative Thai Massage CEUs. Ben's extensive bodywork experience includes rehabilitative and orthopedic bodywork, integrative oncology massage, and he is actively engaged in massage therapy research. Additionally, he has assisted and co-taught AcroYoga since 2014, emphasizing accurate self-assessment and safety.
He is passionate about integrative health and wellness, bodywork, movement, polyvagal theory, and the phenomenon of human connection and our shared capacity for healing. He is enthusiastic, curious, and sometimes filled with the impassioned jargon of pain-science and the neurobiology of the mind-body connection. His favorite place to be is in a hot spring or learning something new.
Amanda Crittenden is a certified AcroYoga International teacher, E-RYT 500hr yoga teacher, and licensed massage therapist. She has co-lead yoga teacher trainings, mentored many yoga teachers in training, and had the chance to teach alongside AcroYoga teachers around the world in the western United States, Sweden, Morocco, Germany, Bali, Spain, Canada, and Czechia. Focusing on restorative AcroYoga, Amanda brings Thai Massage elements into the air through a series of progressions.
Some of her favorite moments include seeing someone run across the beach in Morocco, thrilled to see people doing AcroYoga, and then promptly hopping on her feet to fly. Being witness to groups of humans settling into their bodies and smiling with new friends is something that will never grow old, and after the last two years, will hopefully never be taken for granted. She believes in the strength of AcroYoga to connect people around the world, in a common language of play.
